Artistic Opportunities
A perfect combination of artful activities, fun and the outdoors. Children will ahve opportunities to build fairy houses, add to the rock wall in front of the school, build rock sculptures, mud castles, bird nests, and make grass dolls.
Children will enjoy numerous hands-on activities designed to enrish their appreciation for cultures around the world. Activities, mini-geography lessons, games, crafts, cooking and celebrations!
Renowned Maine artist, Sue Drown from Sunfire Batiks will join us this week. Including: tie dye, batik, crowns, bracelet and bag making. Bring your favorite shirt or jeans to embellish or paint.
This will be an art free-for-all! Build sculptures out of junk, art from recycled material, food as art, games with art and much more.
Celebrating Superheroes
A Schoolhouse twist on what it means to be a hero or a superhero. Children will engage in fun activities to learn about real-life heroes. They'll create comic books, magic wands and their own unique plans for saving the world. Non-violent, no weapons. (Capes included!)
Environmental Exploration
Children will participate in hands-on exploration of the wetlands on site, create 3-D models of watersheds and wetlands ecology, and do science experiments. There will be time to make and float boats on the ponds, learn about outdoor survival and find out more about all the animals that make Schoolhouse's land their home in the summer.
