Elementary Students complete their Self Portraits
September 12, 2012 | Curriculum
For decades, Schoolhouse students have completed self-portraits at the beginning and end of the school year. These drawings become a part of the student’s growing portfolio of work. At the end of their “tenure” at The Schoolhouse, students depart with the whole packet of self portraits from their days as an Alpha 1 until they are ready to enter middle school.
In the moment, creating a self-portrait give students a unique opportunity to think about themselves. Looking at the self portraits from over the course of the years gives a student and their family a concrete documentation of the his/her growth and developmental progress.
