Preschool Lead Teacher/ Co-Director

 

The Schoolhouse Learning Center seeks a Teacher-Director for the older preschool classroom (ages 3.8 to 5) in our nature and play-based preschool program. Candidates must enjoy spending a lot of time outdoors in all weather, hiking, exploring, and teaching children about the natural world. They will lead a team of classroom teachers in planning and implementing a VELS-aligned, social-justice focused preschool curriculum. 

 

In addition to teaching in the classroom, this candidate will spend ten hours per week working administratively on a leadership team as co-director of the preschool, overseeing enrollment, hiring, scheduling, budget etc. to support the day-to-day operations of the program, understand the program’s role in the full institution, as well as to nurture the program and school’s long-term success. 

 

This is a wonderful position for an experienced preschool teacher looking for an opportunity to grow into leadership opportunities while working with young children in a progressive school with a long track record of success.

 

This position is full-year, 30 to 40 hours a week, starting Jan 2, 2022, or until the position is filled.

 

Job Qualifications:

• Five years experience working as a licensed Vermont Early Educator preferred. Administrative experience preferred.

• BA in early childhood education or in a science/nature related field with some education credits preferred. 

• Teachers must attend 15 hours of professional development training in early childhood education each year, and be or become certified in First Aid/CPR.

Preschool Assistant Teacher

The Schoolhouse Learning Center seeks an Assistant Preschool Teacher for one of our preschool classrooms in our nature and play-based preschool program. Candidates should enjoy spending a lot of time outdoors in all weather, hiking, exploring, and teaching children about the natural world, as well as supporting a social-justice focused preschool curriculum. This is a wonderful position for a high school graduate looking for a meaningful gap year experience, a recent college graduate interested in a career in education with an emphasis on nature, play, and social justice, or anyone exploring an interest in teaching/education.  Learn from a fantastic team of experienced teachers, in a progressive school with a long track record of success.
 
This position is full-year, 35 to 40 hours a week, starting November 28, 2022.


Job Qualifications:

  •  Some experience working with young children is preferred, we will train the right candidate.

  • BA in education or in a science/nature related field preferred. High School diploma required.

Substitute Teachers (all programs)

We are looking for substitute teachers (Prek-8th grade)  for our year-round programs. Substitutes are needed at all age levels—preschool, elementary school, middle school and afterschool.

We are looking for dedicated candidates who enjoy working with children of various ages.  Schoolhouse values student choice, open-ended play, a connection to nature, and positive support for students and seeks to provide a school environment dedicated to anti-bias and social justice practices. 

Flexibility, levelheadedness, and a sense of humor are important in this role. Excellent communication skills a must. Training will be provided. Immediate openings.
