The Schoolhouse Afterschool program offers games, sports, arts and crafts, adventures around the Schoolhouse campus, quiet downtime, and gentle homework support. For an additional fee, the Afterschool program also offers play-days to enrolled families for teacher in-service days, family conference days, and vacation weeks. The Afterschool program is a STARS certified, (5 STAR), licensed childcare program and accepts childcare subsidy for a portion or all of the cost of care.

More Options with a Larger Staff
Because of our high staff-to-student ratio, children have lots of choices in how they spend their time. They get to spend more time connecting with their Afterschool friends, and they have the opportunity to develop closer relationships with staff.
Daily activities for every age can include craft projects, outdoor games, and indoor games in the gymnasium. As the afternoon winds down, we offer a read-aloud story time, and there are plenty of comfy nooks to curl up in and listen or to read independently. We also provide a healthy snack, available throughout the afternoon so kids can eat when they’re hungry.
We also occasionally offer clubs (such as our Lego Robotics Club), as an optional add-on during Afterschool hours.
Unless specifically required for homework, electronic devices are not allowed.
Sample Afterschool Schedule
2:45 p.m. Afterschool circle, head outside to play
3:00 p.m. Outside/open choice time, neighborhood Afterschool students arrive, choice activities*
3:30 p.m. Snack (provided daily)
4:00 p.m. Read-aloud story/early pick-up/homework help or quiet reading
4:30 p.m. Outside play/indoor open choice (based on weather), choice activities*
5:00 p.m. Afterschool ends
*Different choice activities are offered by Afterschool staff each day and are optional.
Flexible Scheduling for Busy Families
The Schoolhouse provides flexible scheduling 1-5 days per week, although we encourage families to sign up for at least 2 days per week as it helps students integrate into the Afterschool community more easily. Although families may pick up their child at any time during Afterschool hours, we charge two rates: a reduced rate for students who are picked up by 4:00 p.m., and a full-time rate for any pick-up after 4:00 p.m.
Fees for Schoolhouse Students:
Early pick up (by 4:00 p.m.) – $11.25
Full day (up to 5:00 p.m.) – $18
(We are not currently accepting non-Schoolhouse students in our Afterschool program.)
Drop-Ins:
For families who only need occasional care or who have an unexpected need, we offer drop-in availability for the current month and next month to help families who are not normally contracted for certain days. Please know that we only have a few spots available every day, so it is not guaranteed your child will get a “drop space.”
There is a $100 non-refundable deposit required to secure your child’s place in Afterschool. For enrolled families, this charge will appear as a credit on your first semester Afterschool tuition bill.
