The Brunch Bag tradition began in 1984 as an event to support The Schoolhouse’s students and programs. Every year, Schoolhouse families sell, assemble and hand deliver delightful bags of goodies on Mother’s Day as a Mother’s Day or spring treat. Bags can be purchased for anyone local to brighten their day. You can also buy a bag in honor of a special person who perhaps does not live in the delivery area, and we will send them a card telling them of the Brunch Bag donated in their honor to one of many local support organizations.
Our brunch bag is a beautifully packaged bag of goodies, hand delivered by Schoolhouse community members to the recipient’s door by noon on Sunday, May 12th (Mother’s Day). Every year, we tweak the contents of the bag to include as many local ingredients as possible. This year we will offer a limited number of Vegan/Gluten Free brunch bags. Each bag costs $30 including local delivery.
Who can I buy one for?
Brunch bags aren't just for moms - they are frequently given as "Happy Spring!" gifts to dads, sisters, brothers, kids, friends, neighbors, sweethearts, relatives, teachers, co-workers, bosses, grandparents, doctors, daycare providers, clergy or favorite politicians!
Donate a Brunch Bag!
You can also contribute funds towards the purchase of brunch bags to be donated to residents of COTS, Cathedral Square, Steps to End Domestic Violence (formerly Women Helping Battered Women), or the Lund Family Center.
Delivery
Each bag is delivered in person, Sunday morning, May 12th by 12:00 noon. Towns eligible for delivery include Burlington, Charlotte, Colchester, Essex/Essex Junction, Ferrisburgh, Hinesburg, Huntington, Jericho, Milton, Monkton, Richmond, Shelburne, South Burlington, St. George, Underhill, Westford, Williston and Winooski.
What if my loved one lives out of town?
You can honor an out of town loved one by donating a bag in his/her honor to a community member served by a local non-profit. The Schoolhouse will mail a card to the honoree letting him/her know of your gift.
All proceeds from the sale of Brunch Bags support The Schoolhouse in providing high quality programming for 2 to 14 year olds in a cooperative, nurturing and diverse community.
